Salient Features of the Book
This book entitled ” Mathematics and statistics for Chemists ” covers a part of mathematics and statistics which is relevant for undergraduate and post-graduatge students in the chemistry discipline. This has been written based on the syllabus of chemistry of the recent CBCS curriculum. This consists of a short discussion on function, limit, continuity, differentiation, extremization problems, integration, Legendre transformation, coordinate system, elementary idea of vector, matrix and determinants, successive approximation, differential equations and its different solutions schemes, Taylor, Maclaurin and Fourier series, Legendre transformation. This book also covers the basic ideas of qualitative and quantitative aspects of analysis, error, precision, central tendency, dispersion, presentation of data, analysis of variance, correlation and regression, least swearer fitting etc. Concepts of probability, combinations, permutations have been discussed.
